Equal mental wellbeing, globally – how Beamex supports its people with Auntie

Written by Auntie | Mar 19, 2026 9:29:21 AM

Mental health-related absences are a growing phenomenon in today's world. Beamex wanted to take a proactive approach and find a solution that supports employees early – before challenges escalate. Auntie’s low-threshold service provided exactly that: accessible support, real-time data and measurable results

Work-life balance at the core of Beamex

Beamex is a Finnish but strongly global technology company that designs, manufactures and delivers calibration equipment and software for the process industry. While operating in a niche market, its customers include some of the world’s largest industrial companies – from pharmaceuticals to energy and food production.

Around one third of employees work outside Finland, and the organisation is characterised by high expertise and a strong engineering culture. Employee experience and wellbeing have long been strategic priorities at Beamex.

“We want to ensure that the employee experience is as equal as possible, regardless of location or role,” says Tina Ademola, Director of People and Culture.

Work-life balance is at the heart of wellbeing at Beamex and is supported in multiple ways: flexible working hours, remote work opportunities, and an open and inclusive culture. In many countries outside Finland, Beamex offers parental leave that goes beyond local legislation to promote a more equal employee experience globally.

“We have very strong employee retention – and that tells us we’re on the right track,”  Tina adds.

A shift towards proactive mental wellbeing support

Over time, Beamex had noticed a gradual increase in mental health and stress-related sick leave. Occupational healthcare provided strong support, but it often focused on situations where challenges had already escalated.

“We wanted to find a way to support our people earlier. Auntie provides low-threshold support – help is available quickly, without a diagnosis or referral,” Tina explains.

Auntie complemented Beamex’s wellbeing offering by adding a proactive and accessible dimension that fit both the company culture and its global operating model. One key factor was Auntie’s multilingual and globally accessible service.

“Not every country has occupational healthcare like Finland. With Auntie, we can offer the same level of support to everyone – whether they are based in Finland, Germany or the US. That makes this a truly equal service,” Tina says.

Beamex also uses Auntie Insights data to support HR and leadership decisions.

“Through Insights, we can see how stress levels develop and how satisfaction improves. The data helps us make the right decisions and guide our wellbeing efforts,” Tina adds.

A carefully planned rollout that delivered results

The first question from the leadership team was practical: “How well will this work with our engineers?”

“It worked better than we expected,” Tina laughs. The implementation of Auntie at Beamex was carefully planned and rolled out step by step. Communication and manager engagement were prioritised from the start:

  • HR introduced the service first to managers, then to the whole organisation

  • Auntie hosted introduction sessions in Finnish, Swedish and English

  • A dedicated intranet page explained how the service works and emphasised anonymity

  • Managers were provided with ready-made materials and guidance on how to introduce Auntie in conversations

“For many, it was important to understand that using Auntie is completely confidential. That significantly lowered the threshold,”  Tina explains.

Auntie as part of everyday wellbeing and work ability management

At Beamex, Auntie is not just a standalone service – it is part of everyday wellbeing culture and work ability management.

  • HR regularly reminds employees about Auntie services and webinars

  • Auntie Insights data is used to identify relevant themes and plan future initiatives

  • Auntie is naturally included in one-to-one discussions as a support option

“Insights data and Auntie webinars are excellent ways for us to keep wellbeing visible in everyday work,” Tina says.

Measurable results and impact

Results are regularly reviewed with leadership using Auntie Insights. The impact of Auntie is visible both in data and in everyday work:

⬆️ Wellbeing index has increased by an average of 18%
⬇️ Stress levels have decreased by 24%
💡 Mental health-related absences have significantly decreased

“This is an investment that pays for itself. If we can prevent even a few absences or burnout cases, that already creates significant savings – and more importantly, it’s the right thing to do for our people,”           Tina Ademola, Beamex

Openness and positive experiences strengthened the culture

Auntie was warmly welcomed at Beamex and has become a natural part of wellbeing discussions.

“It’s been great to see how openly people share their experiences. Employees and managers have talked about how helpful Auntie has been in our internal channels. That’s the best feedback we could ask for,” Tina says.

Looking ahead: resilience and holistic support

Looking to the future, Tina highlights resilience – the ability to cope in constant change and information overload – as a key wellbeing theme.

“Work pressure isn’t going away, but we can learn to handle it better. Auntie helps strengthen mental skills and self-leadership.”

One of the most popular Auntie packages at Beamex is Love Boat is Sinking, which explores how relationships and different areas of life impact work.

“It reminds us that people are whole human beings – and that support from employers needs to be holistic as well.”
